Fireday, 24th of Blessing, 721IA (later that day…) “Are you Linech’s daughter?” someone asked, and the girl said yes. Several of us approached here. Her name was Linele and she had a watch in her hand. “What happened?” I asked her. “People killed…” was all I got. She was very pale but otherwise seemed unhurt. “Can I look at that watch?” I asked. “No,” she replied curtly. “This is wrong; keep your distance from her. She’s dangerous,” said Eric from several steps away. “What are you talking about, she’s a girl that lived through trauma.” “She’s radiating Evil I tell you. She’s dangerous,” he insisted. I could actually hear the capital ‘E’ when he said ‘Evil’. We stepped aside to have a discussion. Eric and Tuur insisted that she is some undead beast that should be put down summarily. She didn’t look dead to me and I had to disagree. “How can you explain the Evil radiating from her?” How can I indeed? “She is undead I tell you.” I had a hard time accepting that. I went to her, against protestation from several people, and sat next to her. “Tell me what happened, what happened to you?” “… I was next to a house. It was burning… and suddenly… the fire was around me…” I tried to place a claming hand on her arm but she recoiled. Also, she had no burns on her. I went back to the others and told them what she said. “Is it possible she might be… possessed by something?” “Maybe, but we have to destroy her. She’s Evil!” “But what if she is possessed? Might we not be able to drive the… demon or whatever it is, from her and save her from it?” I will not let harm come to the girl as long as I am not sure of her state. What if she can be saved? We argued for a long time. Seanus was in shock and wasn’t sure what to do. After some time Eric came up with an idea to splash her with holy water “It will only hurt undead and Evil demons,” he insisted. “And if there is an Evil demon in her, will splashing her with holy water drive the demon out? And if driven out, might it not hurt the vessel he is in? Might it not hurt the girl, if she is still in there somehow?” I asked. The answer of “If she is possessed the demon will kill her anyway upon leaving her body,” did not at all satisfy me. It did not satisfy me at all. Another option was to take the girl (if indeed she was a girl) somewhere outside the city and get maybe someone from Castle Shard to come and have a look at her… perhaps to help us understand her situation. Maybe even help her if that is possible. After some voting we decided to take her with us. We went back to the beach and boarded the boat beached there. Tuur asked to sit next to her, and as we settled down he suddenly, very quickly, touched her arm. She screamed a terrible scream and her arm turned black. I think Tuur was a bit startled by the reaction from the girl… but maybe more from mine. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid, I was thinking furiously. “Why the hell did you do that?!?” I shouted at him and with all my might pushed him away from the girl. He fell heavily to the water. The “girl” turned on me and lashed at me. I felt terrible pain and a sudden creeping coldness. I felt numb and empty, and as I fell to the deck of the boat everything seemed to go slow and all I could hear was the thumping of my heart, and I felt the anger and pain from my sister… The darkness cleared and I saw Eric above me, and his hand was leaving my forehead. I was conscious and alive yet… empty. Something was wrong. Something was missing. Menon was beside me, water dripping from her, and forced one of the healing potions down my throat. And even though I did feel stronger as the magic of the potion repaired my body, I still felt sick and empty.
