Eric Mcloins' Ptolus Campaign as it was written down in Melelyn's Journal, a bard.

Earthday, 30th of Blessing, 721IA

I walked through the grounds of the Kath estate almost breathlessly. It was that beautiful. Everything was so artistically done and with so much care that I’m guessing that even if I brought father here he would stop to look… at least for a moment before he would fall in drunkenness.

Asadar Kath received me in a well furnished and lovely room. Smiling he asked if I am really Melelyn and not Menon, and after complimenting me on the performance from the previous night, he being surprised to not have heard of me before, asked that I would tell him about myself a little. Well I told him the short of it all: Warren girl growing up in a family that’s not really worth talking about, being apprenticed by Delwin, and having just recently moved out of the Warrens to live with my sister.

“You have great potential Melelyn,” said he, “and I would like to offer you full scholarship to the Conservatory.” You can be sure by now that my heart was (again) pounding hard with excitement. “It is daily training, several hours each day, and very intensive; but…” For some reason I knew a but would come and I even had a feeling why. “I have checked a little about your background and it has come to my attention that you have recently involved yourself with the Republicans.” Bingo. “We do not approve of them and what they want to do, so if you want the scholarship you will have to sever connections with them.” At least he talks it straight.

“I thank you for your generous offer, but I’m not sure I’m ready to give an answer just yet. I’m in the middle of several things, and I have to think it over… will it be fine if I not give you an answer right away.” He said it was fine, he wasn’t expecting a prompt answer. I thanked him again and left the estate, walking back home with my mind full of thought. Full scholarship for the Conservatory is nothing to just throw out of the window, it can open doors to so many places, advance me in so many ways... but, for that am I willing to throw out my ideals? This is just the thing the Republicans are talking about, people who can should not be stopped just because of their status or where they where born. I think I knew my answer even before I left the Kath estate.

Know what I did when I got home? Sat down on the poem I decided to write for the Republicans. It’s going slow but still going somewhere. I was in the middle of a sentence when someone knocked on the door. I opened it and saw a short, pretty blond young woman. “Is Menon around?”

“Who wants to know?” I asked.

“My name is Dessis, I have something I need to tell you. May I come in?”

I thought for a second looking her up and down, and then motioned her in, letting her sit and sitting myself in front of her. “My uncle says you have something of his and is very surprised that you have not yet returned it.”

“I have something of your uncle?” I asked in shock and surprise, “And who might that be?” I had an idea, but the fireball was nevertheless harsh.

“Ohh, he is Renn Sadar… I am Dessis Sadar.” She said it as if expecting me to fall down before her.

“Really,” I said trying (successful I think) to keep my cool. “Well I assure you I have nothing that belongs to your uncle so I cannot give back whatever it is.” The truth is always better in these situations… and I was telling the truth. Sort off.

I don’t think she believed me. “Just know that my uncle is expecting the prompt return of his property.” I stood up then and so did she.

“If I had anything to return I would have, but thank you all the same. Goodbye,” I said and indicated towards the door. She left. I took a glass of red wine and sat down awaiting Menons’ return.
