Eric Mcloins' Ptolus Campaign as it was written down in Melelyn's Journal, a bard.

Earthday, 16th of Blessing, 721IA

We met at the office, where I helped Menon change her appearance a bit. Turns out it wasn’t really necessary. As we approached William’s Keys we noticed the front door open, and crashing noises coming from inside.  Peeking inside we saw two men standing in the small shop, sifting through the drawers and shelves, cursing that they found almost nothing to take. Figuring that neither of them was William (and also figuring that William might be grateful if we stop this robbery) we decided to confront them. One of them tried to rush at us, but was immediately laid low, his partner wisely threw down his weapon. We stepped into the small shop and closed the door behind us. Sebastian tried to find out what they came here to find, and they claimed that nothing. At that moment the door opened and William came in. We calmed him down that we stopped the robbery but that didn’t help. He immediately noticed that some heirloom of his (a key made of iron, with baroque engravings, and a shield with two curved lines) was missing. It wasn’t on the robbers (the one that we wounded was now dead) and we concluded that they were just dupes. A “friend” of theirs called Irontusk (a half orc working the docks), told them the place will be open for easy picking. A voice called to open the door from the outside. It was Remus (the officers from the Delver’s Square watch station) who was surprised to see us, but was assured by William that we were not the culprits. Before taking the prisoner (and the body) he told us about a robbery that occurred in the Oldtown Library: an important book was stolen by some priest of Kharos. We thanked him for the information and told him we haven’t heard about it (and in answer to his question, that we were nowhere close to the library last night). William agreed to give Menon information about her key and 150 gold imperials if we track down his own key first. Sounds like a good deal.

Back at the office, Aretha was already waiting and the two Paladins arrived shortly after. We told them how it happened that as we were walking to buy some bread rolls we happened upon a robbery in progress and stopped it. We then told them that William was willing to pay handsomely for the retrieval of his Key and they agreed to help us with it. Going to the Docks we first went to the watchhouse, were we figured they’d know of Irontusk… they did, and we set out to the southern part of the docks.

We stepped on the docks and before we even got to appreciate fully where we were a cry went up from the throat of a nearby dockworker “Irontusk watch out!” The half orc was several boats over and immediately started his escape, jumping and running from boat to boat. It all happened very quickly. The paladins tried to run after him but were unable to climb up some boxes that were hindering the way; I slipped on a wet boat just as I attempted to jump to a near by boat; and Sebastian and Menon fired their bows. I’m not sure, but I think I heard Eric shouting not to shoot, but if so, no one heard him (or heeded his plead). Irontusk continued his escape, but another arrow from Sebastian caught the half orc in the thigh and he fell down. Sebastian cuffed him and immediately set upon him trying to scare him into talking. This got Eric even more upset and he tried to pull Sebastian off the wounded Irontusk reminding us that the half orc has done nothing to us, “all he did was run from us.” Irontusk grinned. While Eric was warding off Sebastian, Menon tried to make Irontusk talk with the point of her dagger, but was pulled away by Tuur. Irontusk laughed out loud. This snapped something in Aretha’s mind… I don’t know how else to explain the kick in the nuts she gave the wounded half-orc otherwise. This infuriated Eric and Tuur and they pushed Aretha away. I’m not even sure Irontusk felt the kick; he had an ugly grin on his face. “Go ahead, take me to the watchhouse,” he was taunting, as a big argument followed between us. By that time, a small cluster of people was watching from the dock, trying to figure out what the commotion was all about. When things calmed down just a bit, I knelt down beside Irontusk: “Listen here Tusky, you’re going to tell me to who you gave that key you took from William’s.” He tried to tell me he knows nothing of it. The bag full of gold and a map of the city marked with a place called “Green Daggers” (a small gang we were informed by Aretha) we found on him told us differently.

“Fine, but if you don’t tell me what I need to know, I’ll go to the Green Daggers, the Pale Dogs, and the Balacazars and tell them all about your incompetence.”
